Billing for landlords and tenants
Set up water billing and payment information for new residential or commercial tenants.
Tenants can receive water, wastewater, and stormwater bills in their own name.
Here's what the landlords and tenants need to know:
- A tenant must have their landlord's permission to create a separate water billing account.
- Property owners (or their authorized parties) must complete the residential or commercial tenant billing form to register their property as tenanted. Incomplete forms are not accepted, and changes won’t be made to the account.
- The landlord must submit the tenant form at least 7 days before the tenant's move-in date. We do not accept a move-in date that's already passed. The date on which we receive the form will be considered the tenant's move-in date.
- A Landlord/Tenant Change fee will apply each time a new account is requested or when the account is returned to the landlord's name. Peel Region will send this bill to the landlord before the tenant moves in.
- Once the form has been submitted and the change fee has been paid, the tenant (or tenants) will have their own separate billing accounts for the duration of their stay.
- Property owners are ultimately responsible for overdue amounts at their properties, according to the Municipal Act,2001, S.O.2001,c.25.

Tenants moving out
Use the close a tenant account form if your tenants are moving out of a property.
We do not accept a move-out date that's already passed. The date on which we receive the form will be considered the tenant's move date.
