Community Programs

  • Training and Employment Program for Single Parents
The Open the Door to Better Futures program gives single parents the opportunity to improve their employability, enhance self-esteem and self-confidence, increase parenting skills and actively participate in their community.

  • Early Learning and Parenting in Peel Neighbourhoods
We promote early learning for young children and parents through partnerships that support the entire family.

  • Mobile Early Education
Called LION (Learning In Our Neighbourhood), the mobile early learning program was created in response to census data which showed that a quarter of Peel Region's children are not school-ready as they enter Grade 1. Instead of parents having to look for child development programs, the LION vehicle comes to them.

  • Early Learning Programs in Peel Shelters
Children's programs are provided by early childhood outreach workers at Peel Family Shelter, Interim Place North and Interim Place South. These programs provide sensitive care and developmentally appropriate activities for young children of families who are homeless.
