      • A.3 Additional Information
      • This Accessibility Planning Program 2005 Service Strategy Business Plan (SSBP) document will serve as the Region of Peel’s second Accessibility Plan as per the municipal requirements under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA). The ODA requires that the Region establish an Accessibility Advisory Committee and seek its advice while developing an annual Accessibility Plan and make it available to the public. To comply with the ODA legislation, in 2002, the Council for the Regional Municipality of Peel passed Resolution 2002-920 which endorsed an implementation strategy to support the ODA.

On September 18, 2003, in keeping with the Region of Peel’s commitment to provide services that are accessible and responsive to the needs of its community, Council passed the Region of Peel’s first Accessibility Plan - September 2003, which was prepared by Regional staff in consultation with the Joint Peel-Caledon Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC). The Plan was made available to the public in print, audio and electronic formats and was also published on the Website.

Similar to the first Plan, the 2004 Accessibility Plan will also be converted into alternate formats and will be published on the Regional Website www.peelregion.ca

Appendix I includes more detailed information on how the Region has fulfilled the four municipal requirements of the ODA.
