The Municipal Performance Measurement Program (MPMP) is an initiative introduced by the Ontario Government in 2000 to provide taxpayers with useful information on service delivery performance and to give municipalities a tool to improve those services over time.

MPMP consists of data collection and reporting of service performance measures in municipal service areas of Annual Waste Management, Drinking Water and Wastewater, Roads, Police, Fire, Transportation, Libraries, Parks and Recreation, General Government and Land Use Planning.

Throughout MPMP's development and refinement its objectives have remained constant:

    • To enhance accountability to taxpayers
    • To increase taxpayer awareness of municipal services responsibilities
    • To improve service delivery within the municipality
    • To assist in identification of and encourage sharing of best practices

The Region actively supports and shares these objectives. "We have successfully integrated the MPMP objectives into our regular business practices and corporate performance measurement," says Regional Chair Emil Kolb. "The MPMP results reflect our commitment to the needs of our citizens, and our efforts to improve our already excellent programs and service delivery."
