Help Your School Take Action - Creating Healthy Opportunities

A "healthy school" is an environment that encourages and provides opportunities for students and staff to be physically active and make healthy food choices.

For example, the Annapolis Valley Health Promoting School Project, involving more than a dozen schools, found that these students demonstrated:

  • Improved class performance
  • Superior concentration
  • Enhanced behaviour
  • Better food and physical activity choices when compared to other students in Nova Scotia

This section features practical advice and information to help educators create and provide healthy opportunities.
