Breastfeeding Practices

Arrow BulletProgram Implications and Recommendations

There are a number of breastfeeding programs and community initiatives in the Region of Peel. These programs provide the full spectrum of breastfeeding promotion from direct service to advocacy and health education. While the last few years have seen an increase in the number of services available, this increase does not keep pace with the Region’s large birth cohort and continued population growth. For example, between 2001 and 2005 Peel’s population increased by 13.9 per cent.
