Drugs:

There are many types of medication that may increase risk of heat-related illness. Common types are:

  • Psychiatric drugs
  • Antiparkinson drugs
  • Antidepressants
  • Antihistamines
  • Over-the-counter sleeping pills
  • Anti-diarrhea pills
  • Some diuretics

If you are taking any medication regularly, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you need to be extra careful during hot weather.

Alcohol:

Alcohol, cola and coffee promote dehydration. Reduce your intake during hot weather.
