This course will build awareness of the Library’s external website. This includes online access to journals, eBooks, and other websites of interest. You will learn how to use the tools on the website to understand the ins and outs of obtaining a full-text article. The levels and sources of public health evidence will be illustrated as well as the concept of grey literature. We will also help you gain the ability to get e-mail updates of the literature in your area of interest.

This course will build on concepts learned in Health Information Literacy 101 which we hope you will attend before attending 201. There will be a more in-depth explanation of the relevant levels and sources of public health evidence in the 6S pyramid. We will also search some of the more common public health resources and give you time to explore the resources yourself. The course will include formulation and practise with a PICOT question and an overview of some basic searching in Medline and PubMed.

Did you attend our session that described the many new databases in the Virtual Library? Now come and attend a hands-on session where you will learn more about the resources in each database and how to search the databases to find full-text. We will do a demonstration and then go through relevant exercises that give you experience which you can use right at your desk.
