    This phone number is a confidential, anonymous and free telephone service. Information is provided by Public Health Nurses who can answer your questions about sexual health issues.

  • Hardtospell
    A Region of Peel Public Health website for youth. Provides information on everything related to sexual health including sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS, testing and treatment, birth control methods and more. Visitors to the site can submit anonymous sexual health questions that are answered by sexual health experts. The website also includes a ‘mock’ spelling bee video.

  • In the Know Peel
    A Region of Peel Public Health website for youth. Provides information on everything related to sexual health including sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS, testing and treatment, birth control methods and more.

  • Canadian Federation For Sexual Health
    This is the place to get all the information you need on STIs, birth control, and more.

  • Planet Ahead
    A funky web space by teens for teens with information on all things about sex and sexual health.

  • sexualityandU.ca 
    Offers detailed information on sexual health organized into sections for teens, adults, parents and teachers.

  • Spiderbytes.ca
    A new spin on sexual health for teens. Topics include puberty, sexual health, sexuality, sex and relationships.

  • Teenwire
    A very cool and interactive website that covers everything from abortion, to birth control, sexually transmitted infections and everything in between.

  • Womens Health Matters
    The source for reliable, evidence-based and up-to-date information on women's health and lifestyle issues.

Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Support and Resources

If you need to talk to someone about coming out, or to just talk, there are lots of services in Peel and Toronto to help you.

Peel Region Area Services

  • Positive Space Coalition of Peel
    Positive Space Coalition is a networking group of individuals and agencies dedicated to addressing the needs and increasing the visibility of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, questioning, and queer (LGBTTQQ) community in Peel.

  • QXposure
    QXposure is a partnership that originated between the Peel HIV/AIDS Network (PHAN) and the East Mississauga Community Health Centre, and now includes Associated Youth Services of Peel. The goal of QX is to reduce social exclusion and access barriers amongst Queer and Trans communities and Queer and Trans individuals, and raising awareness to the unique determinants of health faced by Queer and Trans individuals through an anti-racist and anti-oppressive approach.

  • Youth Beyond Barriers (YBB)

    YBB is a support and social group for Queer and Trans-Identifying youth between the ages of 12-17. The program is located in the central Mississauga and Brampton area. Please contact the agency for more information.

Greater Toronto Area Services

  • 519 Community Counselling Programme
    Phone: 416-392-6878 ext. 335

    This is a free service provided by trained counsellors who volunteer their time. Anyone wishing to speak with a counsellor may phone to book an appointment. Usually appointments are available within a week.

  • Central Toronto Youth Services - Pride & Prejudice
    Phone: Counselling and Group Work 416-924-2100 x 245

    Pride and prejudice offers unique programs for lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex, transgender, transsexual and questioning youth 25 and under.

  • Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line

    In the Greater Toronto Area 416-962-YOUTH (9688)

    The Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line is a Toll Free Ontario-wide peer-support phone line for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, 2-spirited, queer and questioning young people. The Youth Line also provides online peer-support through the online forum and e-mail response. In the Greater Toronto Area, speakers and workshops can be requested.

  • Parents Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)

    PFLAG is a nation-wide organization that deals with sexual orientation and gender identity issues from a family perspective, providing support, education and resources.

  • Sherbourne Health Centre
    Phone:  416-324-4180

    Primary health care for Toronto’s LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans) Communities.  Provides health care, counselling services, workshops, groups, and community activities.

  • Supporting Our Youth

    Supporting Our Youth (SOY) is an exciting, dynamic community development project designed to improve the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and transgendered youth in Toronto through the active involvement of youth and adult communities.
