The 3 Activity Groups
There are 3 types of physical activity that help to keep your body healthy:
Some exercises and activities involve more than one of these three key elements. For example, dancing is great for endurance and it also challenges your flexibility.
Add it up!
Remember, as far as your health is concerned, three 10 minute sessions is just as good as a 30 minute workout of equal intensity.
Endurance Activities:
This kind of activity improves your heart and lungs. Anything you do that increases your heart rate and rate of breathing is considered an endurance activity.
- Brisk walking
- Jogging
- Golfing
- Yard and garden work
- Cycling
- Tennis
- Skating
- Swimming
- Dancing

Flexibility Activities:
Flexibility and stretching activities improve your ability to move easily and keep your muscles and joints relaxed.
- Gardening/yard work
- Mopping the floor
- Vacuuming
- Stretching exercises
- Tai Chi
- Golf
- Bowling
- Curling
- Dance

Strength Activities:
These exercises help to keep your muscles and bones strong.
- Cutting and piling wood
- Raking leaves lifting and carrying groceries
- Climbing stairs
- Lifting free weights
- Abdominal curls
- Push ups
