Centre features

Indoors

Malton Village is a new generation long-term care centre featuring large rooms and hallways, recreational rooms and spas.

Memory boxes
Malton Village residents have individual maple and glass memory boxes located outside their bedrooms. We encourage residents to display their memorable items such as photographs and souvenirs in the box.

Home areas
Malton Village features six home areas, each with its own comfortable and secure dining and recreational space. There’s also plenty of room for personal mementos in the spacious bedrooms.

Outdoors

Enclosed gardens and courtyards
Each resident home area at Malton Village has an attractive view of an enclosed garden. Home areas on the ground floor have a solarium with direct access to the courtyard, while residents living on the second and third floors are able to relax on a spacious outdoor terrace.

Malton Village’s two beautiful courtyards — Periwinkle and Marigold — are completely enclosed and offer a safe and secure environment where residents can spend time relaxing or enjoy horticultural activities in the summer.

History

The name “Malton Village” reflects the long history of the area.

Malton began as a small farming community and was part of the Township of Toronto Gore until the Toronto airport was built.

Richard Halliday, a blacksmith and the area’s first innkeeper, named the area Malton after his birthplace in Yorkshire, England. Victory Aircraft Company was established in Malton during the war, and Victory Village was a subdivision built for company workers and their families.

Among her contributions is the development of the first Cultural Diversity Handbook for Long Term Care staff which was recognized as a national leading practice by The Canadian Council Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA).

In 2008, Wendy led the development of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program for our five long-term care centres, to ensure our employees can be active players in making our centres a better place to work and live. In November 2009, she returned to Malton Village as Administrator.
