Free Child Car Seat Clinic at Bramalea City Centre

(Brampton) - On Saturday, May 12, 2001, the Peel Car Seat Safety Committee will host a FREE Child Car Seat Clinic at the Bramalea City Centre in Brampton.

Correctly used child restraints reduce the likelihood of child injury or death during a motor vehicle collision by 75 per cent. In Canada, four out of every five children are not properly restrained in their car seats. Common car seat installation mistakes include improper use of the tether strap, failure to use locking clips on seat belts and improper tightening of seat belts.

During the Clinic, trained inspectors will be on hand to check car seat installations and provide car seat safety education to parents and caregivers of young children. Participants must bring their child, the car seat manufacturer's instructions and the owner's manual for their vehicle. Each safety assessment should take approximately 20 minutes.

Bramalea City Centre is located at the corner of Dixie Road and Queen Street East in Brampton.
Additional Child Car Seat Safety Clinics will be held across Peel Region in June and July. For more information on the Child Car Seat Clinic and all upcoming Clinics, call Health Line Peel at 905-799-7700.

The Peel Car Safety Committee is a cooperative venture of the Peel Regional Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, St. John's Ambulance, Co-operator's Insurance Group, the Peel Health Department and Peel Fire and Emergency Services.
