Fix a Leak Week promotes water conservation in Peel
BRAMPTON, ON (March 18, 2024) – March 18-24 marks Fix a Leak Week, an annual initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of water conservation and encouraging residents to take proactive steps in identifying and fixing household leaks.
Small household water leaks may seem insignificant, but collectively, they account for massive water waste, which can become expensive.
To prevent water leaks in your home and property:
- Check Toilets and Faucets: Regularly inspect toilets for leaks and look for dripping taps and faucets.
- Upgrade Fixtures: Replace older, inefficient fixtures with WaterSense models before leaks begin.
- Manage Humidifiers: Be mindful of humidifiers; turn them off when not needed, such as during the summer months. If you’re replacing your humidifier, consider a model that refreshes water on an adjustable timer.
- Monitor Irrigation Systems: An irrigation system should be checked each spring before use, to make sure it was not damaged by frost or freezing.
