In November 2011, the Region of Peel initiated a Schedule “C” Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association’s Municipal Class EA process for improvements to Steeles Avenue, from Chinguacousy Road to Winston Churchill Boulevard (see map). The second Public Information Centre is scheduled as follows:
||Wednesday, June 5, 2013
||6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
||Roberta Bondar Public School
30 Pantomine Blvd., Brampton
The aim of the Class EA process is to involve the public and agencies in creating the best solution for the study corridor. The project team, with public and agency input has:
- Defined the problem statement;
- Developed and evaluated planning alternatives, and
- Determined a preferred solution.
Public Information Centre (PIC) No.1
The first PIC was held on November 7, 2012. Following PIC No.1, the project team reviewed input from the public and agencies and confirmed the preferred planning solution which is to:
- Widen Steeles Avenue with intersection improvements to increase capacity, and
- Provide transit and pedestrian facilities.
Public Information Centre (PIC) No.2
PIC No.2 will present:
- A review of alternative design concepts,
- The recommended design, and
- Potential mitigation measures.
PIC No.2 will be an informal drop-in centre format with information presented on display boards. The Project Team members will be present to answer questions and discuss the next steps in the study.
Following the PIC, the preliminary preferred alternative will be confirmed or modified taking into consideration the comments received. Upon completion of the study, a Notice of Study Completion and an Environment Study Report will be prepared.
