Mayfield Road from Chinguacousy Road to Heart Lake Road

Peel Region has now completed its Schedule 'C' Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process for the widening of Mayfield Road to six lanes between Chinguacousy Road and Heart Lake Road.The project team examined a full range of alternatives and improvements and assessed reasonable means to lessen potential impacts. We received your feedback at two Public Information Centres to develop a recommended design as follows:

  • a phased widening of Mayfield Road from 2 lanes to 6 lanes:
    • 2 lanes to 4 lanes from Chinguacousy Road to Hurontario Street;
    • 4 lanes to 6 lanes from Hurontario Street to Heart Lake Road;
    • 4 lanes to 6 lanes from Chinguacousy Road to Hurontario Street, and
  • intersection improvements and improved transit and pedestrian facilities.

An Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to document the planning and decision-making process. It is available for review for 45 calendar days starting on Thursday, July 31, 2014 and ending Monday, September 15, 2014 at the following locations. Project information can also be reviewed and electronic comments made on our website.

If you require a hard copy of the ESR or have questions or concerns, please contact either project manager within the 45 day comment period. If we cannot resolve your concerns, you may request that the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change make an Order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act, which addresses individual environmental assessments.

The Minister must receive requests for Part II Orders, at the address below, by 4:30pm on Monday, September 15, 2014 with a copy sent to both project managers.
