Development Charges By-law Proposal

On Thursday, May 28, 2015, the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel will hold a public meeting to present information to the residents and businesses of Peel and obtain input on the proposed updates to the Region’s Development Charges By-law and background study as required by the Ontario Development Charges Act, 1997.

Development charges are charges imposed by Ontario municipalities to pay for increased capital costs due to increased service needs arising from new development. As new development occurs in the Region of Peel, the demand for Regional services increases.

All interested parties may attend the public meeting and those attending may make representations relating to the proposed by-law. The meeting is to be held as follows:

A copy of the background study will be available on May 13, 2015 and can be received from either the Office of the Regional Clerk, the Office of the Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer or from the Region of Peel website at www.peelregion.ca/finance/development or www.peelregion.ca/finance/links.htm#fin.

Written submissions may be directed to the Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at the address noted above and the Region of Peel asks for these submissions to be received on or before Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to make verbal representations at the public meeting may contact the Office of the Regional Clerk at 905-791-7800, ext. 4325 or via e-mail to: regional.clerk@peelregion.ca.
