The Region of Peel’s Development Services Planning section is comprised of the:

Mississauga Planning Team

The Mississauga Team is responsible for coordinating and developing the Regional position on development applications for Mississauga.

Staff on the Mississauga Team comment on:

  • Consent applications (also known as land severance applications — the sanctioned separation of a piece of land to form 2 new properties)
  • Local Official Plans and Amendments
  • Minor variances (a change to the Zoning by-law)
  • Regional Official Plan Amendments
  • Rezoning applications
  • Site plan applications
  • Subdivision and condominium plans

The Mississauga Team’s comments are based on planning policies within the:

  • Greenbelt Plan
  • Places to Grow Plan
  • Planning Act
  • Provincial Policy Statement
  • Region of Peel Official Plan

Brampton Planning Team

The Brampton Team is responsible for coordinating and developing the Regional position on development applications for Brampton.

Staff on the Brampton Team comment on:

  • Consent applications (also known as land severance applications — the sanctioned separation of a piece of land to form 2 new properties)
  • Local Official Plans and Amendments
  • Minor variances (a change to the Zoning by-law)

Caledon Planning Team

The Caledon Team is responsible for coordinating and developing the Regional position on development applications for the Town of Caledon and surrounding area.

Staff on the Caledon Team comment on:

  • Consent applications (also known as land severance applications — the sanctioned separation of a piece of land to form 2 new properties)
  • Local Official Plan and Amendments
  • Minor variances (a change to the Zoning by-law)
  • Niagara Escarpment Development Permit Applications
  • Oak Ridges Moraine Site Plan Applications
  • Regional Official Plan Amendments
  • Subdivision and condominium plans

Caledon Team comments are based on planning policies within the:

  • Greenbelt Plan
  • Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan
  • Places to Grow Plan
  • Planning Act
  • Provincial Policy Statement
  • Region of Peel Official Plan

Development Engineering Team

The Development Services Engineering Team:

  • Manages and provides engineering accountability for the planning and approval of proposed new infrastructure (the key facilities and systems in an area, such as transportation and communication systems, hospitals and schools.)
  • Assures that the construction of new infrastructure in Peel by the development industry:
    • Meets the growing needs of the residents and businesses of the Region.
    • Is in line with Peel Master Servicing Plans.

The Development Engineering Services Team consists of 2 teams: the Subdivision Servicing Team and Site Plans Servicing Team.

The Subdivision Servicing Team:

  • Manages new development applications.
  • Manages development-related capital projects that are linked to development activities in Public Works.
  • Reviews proposed secondary plans, block plans and draft plans to ensure that servicing is in place for these plans to move forward.
  • Ensures that financing agreements meet the Region’s purchasing and financial by-law requirements.

The Site Plans Servicing Team:

  • Processes and provides approval on site servicing applications for proposed residential and industrial and commercial (ICI) developments.
  • Reviews and provides servicing requirements for Committee of Adjustment, site plans, rezoning and Ontario Power Authority (OPA) applications.
  • Processes subdivision-related residential water and wastewater service applications.
  • Prepares new service connection accounts in the Water Billing System.
