It’s important to
know what to do in an emergency before it
happens.
Regional Council recently passed a by-law accepting
Peel’s Emergency Response Plan. The plan details
what is expected of both Peel Regional Council and
Peel Region employees should an emergency occur.
The Emergency Plan summarizes:
- Who is responsible for
which actions in an emergency situation.
- The responsibilities of
each department and who should report to the Emergency
Operations Centre (EOC).
- Actions that must be taken
at the emergency site and who should carry them
out.
Peel’s Emergency Plan is a “living document”.
It must:
- Be reviewed annually to
reflect changes in the Peel community.
- Be practised each year.
(Annual training ensures that EOC staff and Emergency
Program Committee members will know how to put
the strategies into action.)
- Be updated after training
exercises to address any issues that arose as a
result of the exercise.
