Note: To help make disposal as quick and easy as possible for residents and small businesses, the Region of Peel has initiated a pilot program at Brampton CRC that requires cash payment for disposal fees $15 and under when exiting the platform. Brampton CRC experiences a high volume of traffic, which can lead to long wait times as cars must be weighed and disposal fees collected at the outbound scale. Lengthy back-ups at the outbound scale also cause delays at the inbound scale, as the Region must manage traffic safety on the CRC platform. This also leads to excessive engine idling.
The Region of Peel has determined debit and credit transactions have the greatest impact on wait times at Brampton CRC. Nearly 80 per cent of disposal fees are for $15 or less. To help serve you better, the Region is testing the effectiveness of cash only for payment $15 or less at Brampton CRC. The pilot program will occur from May 2009 to May 2010. Once complete, the Region will assess the program to determine whether cash payment reduce wait times.
