Household Hazardous Waste
Sharps and Needles

Use your Sharp Smarts when disposing of used needles, syringes and lancets
Never dispose of needles, syringes and lancets (sharps) in your garbage or recycling box.
Needles, syringes and lancets can pose a risk to you and others if not disposed of properly. In an effort to protect residents and Regional employees, the Region of Peel's Community Recycling Centres accept sharps at their Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Areas.
Please note: Peel's Community Recycling Centres accept residential household hazardous waste only. No institutional, commercial or industrial hazardous waste is permitted.
Peel’s Community Recycling Centres only accept ‘Sharps’ (needles, syringes and lancets) in biohazard containers specifically designed to contain these items.
Community Recycling Centres in Peel distribute biohazard containers free of charge and offer free sharps and household hazardous waste disposal services to Peel residents. The biohazard containers are visibly labelled with a biohazard symbol in order to protect family members, waste collectors, pets and others who may come in contact with your sharps.
