Breastfeeding Companions - Peer Support Program

Sign up for this free support program to talk with a mother who has breastfed her own children. Experienced mothers have volunteered to help you over the phone as often as you need within the first six months. Contact us anytime before or after baby is born.

Here's what some mothers have said about the program:

“Encouraged me to keep trying and always complimented me. She told me I was doing a great job. This kept me motivated.”

“Just having someone to talk to made it a bit easier.”

“She [Breastfeeding Companion] was very reassuring and gave me confidence.”

How do I get more information?

Register by phone or by mailing in a registration form (PDF 268KB).

What if English isn’t my first language?

We have volunteers who speak a number of languages and we will try to match you with a mom who speaks the same language as you.

Interested in volunteering?

We're looking for mothers who have had a positive breastfeeding experience for at least six months and who value the importance of breastfeeding. You must be able to attend a one-day training session (lunch is provided) and be willing to provide telephone support to mothers living in Peel.
