March Break Family Fun @ Riverwood
March 11-12-13-14, 2013 - Mornings 9:30-11:00 am or Afternoons 1:00-2:30 pm
Celebrate spring’s arrival and abundant wildlife of Mississauga with free family fun at Riverwood. This daily program is designed for children ages 2 to 11 and their parents/caregivers to explore the wonders of nature together. Learn about animal habitats, birds, rocks and plants through interactive workshops and walks through Riverwood. Meet others and learn how to engage your children in the natural world. Don’t miss this opportunity for spring break fun! Where: MacEwan Field Station, Riverwood (indoors and outdoors) REGISTER EARLY.

Canada Learning Bond Enrollment Event 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us to enroll your child for free money through the Canada Learning Bond (CLB) Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). The CLB is FREE money provided by the Government of Canada to children born in 2004 or after living in families earning less than $42,707 net annually. Eligible children will receive up to $2,000 by the age of 15, plus interest. No parental contribution is required!

To register, parents must bring:
1. Two pieces of government-issued ID
2. Your child’s Social Insurance Number (SIN) if they have one
If your child does not have a SIN, you must arrive
between 1:00-4:00 p.m. and bring:
3. Your child’s Canadian Birth Certificate (if born in Canada)
or Citizenship Card (if born outside of Canada)

Peel Children and Youth Initiative has hosted 6 Canada Learning Bond Community Enrollment events. They've resulted in 262 kids in Peel enrolled, securing over half a million dollars from the government for their post secondary education!

Please share with parents and community partners so they can attend this one-stop-shop to secure free funds for their children's education.

Teaching Social Communication to Young Children 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Social communication includes the ability to introduce, extend and maintain topics, request clarification if needed, and respond to peers. Children have to learn to read and interpret social cues and contexts and respond appropriately. This workshop will focus on strategies to teach conversational skills to young children.
