At PAMA: Yoga for Adults 10:15 am - 11:15 am

Meditation is at the heart of Sikh spiritual practice. Upon entering a Sikh place of worship, everyone stands straight with their hands folded, bows their head to the floor, then takes their place sitting in a cross-legged posture to meditate. This is a basic yoga practice. For a Sikh, the body is a temple of the Undying Spirit. "Sat Nam Yoga" is an empowering, healing discipline anyone can practice, regardless of their age or flexibility. It uses Sikh mantras to build self esteem and deepen mental focus. In this fun class we will train our body and mind to relax at will and be in cherdi kala (high spirits).

At PAMA: Diversity on the Guru's Path: Reclaiming our heritage of inclusivity a 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Guru Nanak Sahib dreamed of a world without divisions. Guru Sahib saw the unity of Vahiguru in everything. Yet Guru Nanak Sahib also created a unique and distinct path and crafted his Sikhs over 10 lives to be a force for transformative internal and external change. There are certain basic criteria and expectations of those who walk this path, and that need to balance inclusivity along with Sikh Rehit has been a source of conflict, especially over the last several decades. Where is the balance to be found? Is diversity important within Sikhi? Are some divisions necessary for the successful running of the community? Let us look at Gurbani, Sikh history and Rehit for answers. Saturday, April 23 12 - 2 pm 14 and up Courtroom Facilitator: Santbir Singh
