How to Sort Your Waste

What Do I Do With...?

Yard Waste

Remove the candle and wax from Jack-o'-lanterns. If you chop up the pumpkin, you can put the pieces in your green organics cart or backyard composter. If you leave the pumpkin intact, put it in your backyard composter or in a paper yard waste bag, bushel basket or labelled, open, rigid, reusable container and set those out at the curb.

Ensure that each curbside container weighs no more than 20 kgs (44 lbs).

Diverting pumpkins - and other organics - from the landfill benefits the environment and helps to create a rich, renewable resource - compost - which can be spread on a garden to enrich the soil. Watch our Pumpkin Recycling video to learn more.

Let Them Loose!
