Smart Commute Mississauga and Smart Commute Pearson Airport
Smart Commute Mississauga and Smart Commute Pearson Airport:
- Are non-profit Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) that promote commuter options and transportation services to employers.
- Promote sustainable transportation, which are ways of travelling between places with little or no effect on the environment
Both aim to reduce traffic and fight climate change by encouraging people to use cleaner ways of travelling in and around Mississauga and Pearson Airport.
Mission, vision and goal
Mission: Affect the environment in a positive, measurable way by reducing vehicle use, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
Vision:To see more businesses offering easier ways for employees to use sustainable, active transportation (such as cycling and walking) to get to work.
Goal: Make getting to and from work easier, healthier and more enjoyable.
Meeting employees’ and employers’ commuting needs
Smart Commute Mississauga was launched in 2005; Smart Commute Pearson Airport in June 2010. Both help large employers in Mississauga and the Pearson Airport Area understand what commuters want and need.
Smart Commute offers information, training guides and resources to promote and support better commuting choices to decrease traffic congestion, reverse climate change and reduce a company’s carbon footprint.
