The Ontario Human Rights Code prohibits actions that discriminate against people based on protected grounds.
As Volunteer Engagement Professionals, we are regularly interviewing potential volunteers. We must ensure the interview process balances respect for the Ontario Human Rights Code legislation with a strong emphasis on recognizing the interview as a strong component of risk management.
The type of interview we conduct and the questions we ask has an impact on the type of volunteer we engage in our organization. Join us for this practical webinar to learn more about the Ontario Human Rights Code, various interviewing styles and how this will support respectful, ethical volunteer engagement.
Participants will come away with: - An understanding of the protected grounds listed in the Ontario Human Rights Code; - Knowledge of various types of interviews and which one to use in specific settings; - What information you can/should record during an interview.
