East to West Wastewater Diversion Strategy

The Region of Peel has identified the need to prepare a detailed strategy for the development of sanitary servicing projects in the south east part of Brampton and north east part of Mississauga.

The strategy’s purpose is to divert wastewater flows from the Region’s eastern sanitary trunk system to the western sanitary trunk system which will reduce flows to Lakeview Wastewater Treatment Plant and increase flows to Clarkson Wastewater Treatment Plant. This will balance the collection system and facilities capacities and accommodate planned future growth.

The diversion strategy was identified and recommended through the 2002, 2007 and 2013 Region of Peel Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plans.

The Region of Peel has initiated this Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to investigate servicing strategies and individual projects that will require fulfillment through the Municipal Engineer Association (MEA) Class EA process.

Public consultation is vital and key to the success of this study. We want to ensure that anyone interested in this study has the opportunity to get involved and provide input before any decisions are made.
