Poverty, Health & Homelessness in Peel Conference 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

On October 23 & 24, join us for this two-day conference exploring challenges and solutions to poverty and homelessness in Peel region. Presented by Sheridan College, the Health & Homelessness Steering Committee and the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee. Speakers include: Michael Shapcott, Wellesley Institute, Grace-Edward Galabuzi, Ryerson University, Deena Ladd, Workers Action Centre, Matthew Mendelson, Mowat Institute, Dr. Ritika Goel, Inner City Health Associates, Tom Cooper, Hamilton Roundtable on Poverty Reduction.

Astronomy Series Presented by RASC (Mississauga) at Riverwood 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Explore the universe with family and friends! Observe the night sky with members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Large telescopes will be set up to give you amazing views of our Moon, the planets and more! Learn the names of the brighter stars and constellations. Star maps will be handed out. Spend an enjoyable evening with the stars in on the lawn in front of Chappell House at Riverwood.
Please note: The event will be held on the first date shown – the second date is a back-up date in case skies are not suitable for star-gazing on the scheduled date.

Brampton Horticultural Society Monthly Meeting 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Each meeting begins with a welcoming of members, review of society programs and activities, including the treasurer’s report. This is usually followed by a speaker and ends with refreshments and a chance for members to socialize and possibly win a door prize. Most monthly meetings also feature a Flower Show, Plant Sale Table, Library, Bulletin Board and mini-seminars for the education and enjoyment of the members.

The meeting is held at Flower City Seniors Recreation Centre, 8870 McLaughlin Road, Brampton.

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Meeting starts at 8:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m.
