Peel Public Health has many programs to make sure that food is handled safely and to reduce the risk of anyone becoming sick with food-borne illness:

• Our public health inspectors check that restaurants, banquet halls, grocery stores and daycares are operated and maintained safely, and meet the standards in the Ontario Food Premises Regulation and the Region of Peel Food Safety by-law #59-2005.
• You can check food safety inspection results online on the Peel Health Inspection and Legal Convictions Portal.
• People who work in food premises, such as operators or kitchen staff, can register to take our food handler course.
• You can also learn about food safety at home and food safety at restaurants/food premises through our posters, presentations and other online resources, such as our HACCP Training for Food Handlers video.
• You can make property information request for premises inspected by Region of Peel – Public Health

To report a food poisoning please call Peel Public Health at 905-799-7700. You can call after normal business hours and on weekends. If you have leftover food that you suspect made you sick, please keep it in a refrigerator in case we need to do a lab test.

To report a complaint about a food premises, please email or call Peel Public Health at
905-799-7700. A Public Health Inspector will investigate. If you have leftover food that you suspect made you sick, please keep it in a refrigerator in case we need to do a lab test.
