Child Health Report-2002

Arrow BulletChild Health Report 2002

The Child Health Report 2002 is the second in a series of reports that highlight important health issues and trends in the Region of Peel. The first report in the series is the State of the Region's Health 2001 (released in November 2001).

This report focuses on these 11 areas:

In each of the 11 topic areas, you will find highlights and a link to the complete chapter. In addition, the Complete Report, Executive Summary, Lists, and References are also available.

The children of the Region of Peel enjoy relatively good health by provincial and national standards. Some of the trends identified in the report are encouraging, but there are still many health challenges to address - now and for the future.

"Unhealthy behaviours begin in childhood and can last a lifetime," says Dr. David McKeown, Medical Officer of Health for the Region of Peel. "The Child Health Report will be a resource for any individual or community group concerned with the current, and future, health and welfare of Peel's children."

The report uses a wide variety of data to describe child health, but there are a number of important gaps in the information that will need to be addressed to get a complete picture of child health in Peel.
