Meaning of home

The students’ response to the idea of home is richly varied and deals with personal, global, existential and environmental themes. Their painterly expressions reflect a deep dive into the imagination from where the idea of home can be accessed spontaneously and intuitively.

This project was led by Visual Arts teacher Danielle Lemieux and guest artist Sonja Mortimer, and is made possible by Brigitte Taylor, Mayfield's Visual Arts Parent Council Chair and Dr. Julie Smitka, Head of Mayfield's Visual Arts Department.

The program

This online project is new venture presented in partnership between Mayfield's Regional Arts Program (Caledon, Ontario) and the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA). The Regional Arts Program is a long-standing institution that gives students the opportunity to study visual arts intensively in an environment uniquely dedicated to their creative growth.
