Getting to know you

While visiting Malton Village, Darryl, a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) visiting from Sheridan Villa, noticed Dorothy sitting by herself looking distressed. Darryl grabbed a cup of coffee and joined Dorothy at the table. Instead of focusing on her current mood, Darryl began speaking to Dorothy about her favorite topic, her home in England. Immediately, Dorothy’s mood began to change, and she eagerly shared her experiences of growing up in York. Knowing those in your care supports great moments like this. At the end of the conversation, Dorothy looked at Darryl and said ‘I think I’m going to start chasing boys again’ with an added wink and naughty grin. Good on you, Dorothy!
