Mabel Pearl Cardinell (1867/88-1980)

Mabel Cardinell was a local amateur artist. She lived in Brampton for most of her life and worked at the Williams Shoe Factory, eventually becoming a forewoman there. She remained single for most of her life until marrying Richard Godfrey Mills sometime after 1945. Cardinell had fond memories of growing up in Brampton.
PAMA has both artifacts and artwork from Mabel Cardinell. The museum has a bonnet and a pair of boots belonging to Cardinell and the art gallery has a painting titled “Birches, Caledon” from 1945 seen here.
