Stéphanie Dixon
Athlete
As a nineteen-time Paralympic medalist, Stéphanie Dixon is Peel’s winningest athlete at either the Olympics or Paralympics. She retired as one of the top para swimmers in the world.
Born without her right leg and hip, Stéphanie began swimming at age two, and facing able-bodied athletes in competitions by age 13. Over the course of three Paralympics, she earned seven gold medals, ten silver, and two bronze.
While she’s retired from competitive sport, Dixon served as Canada’s assistant chef de mission at the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games, and our chef de mission at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Now a resident of the Yukon, she coaches a local competitive swimming club, is a public speaker, and broadcaster.
Dixon is a member of the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame (2015), Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame (2016), and the Order of Canada (2018).
