2018 Municipal Election
The next municipal elections will be held across Ontario on Monday, October 22, 2018.
The Better Local Government Act, 2018 (Bill 5) came into effect on August 14, 2018.
As a result, Peel Regional Council will appoint the Peel Regional Chair at the first meeting of the Regional Council for the 2018-2022 term. Regional Council members may nominate individuals for the position of Regional Chair at the first Council meeting on Dec. 6, 2018.
Information for previously registered Regional Chair candidates
Under Bill 5, all previously registered Regional Chair candidates are deemed to be withdrawn as of July 27, 2018, immediately before 2 p.m.
The previously registered candidates are required to complete and file the Financial Statement - Auditor's Report Candidate - Form 4 with Regional Clerk by March 29, 2019, 2 p.m. The original form – not a photo copy or a scanned document - must be filed. To receive the $200 nomination fee refund, the candidates must file Form 4.
A final certificate for campaign expenses will be issued on or before September 25, 2018.
