Watermain construction

Creditview Road between Argentia Road and Old Creditview Road. Project 16-2291 C2.

Peel Region will be working in your neighbourhood to construct a new watermain along Creditview Road, as shown in the map below. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment plants to your neighbourhood. As pipes age and our population grows, we need to replace older watermains to keep providing high quality water services.

To install this new watermain, we will tunnel underground and will not need to dig trenches in your neighbourhood. Aboveground construction activities will be mainly limited to two fenced areas which will provide access for the tunnelling equipment to enter the tunnel. These tunnel access points will be located at:

Please see the map below for the specific locations of these access points:

Construction schedule

Construction is planned to begin on August 7, 2023, and be completed by the end of 2024. These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines. Construction and repair work completed as part of this project is under warranty for two years from the completion date.

Contractor and working hours

This work will be completed by Technicore Underground Inc. and supported by Jacobs Canada, both under contract to Peel Region. The City of Mississauga, under the Noise Bylaw, is allowing tunnelling work to be carried out by our contractor continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Continuous tunneling operations reduce the amount of time your area is under construction, and the related impacts to the community. During this time, we do not anticipate there to be significant noise. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to local residents by restricting the delivery and removal of materials to the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Traffic impacts

We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane during construction. If we must reroute traffic, we will place signs giving directions.

Interrupting your water supply

It is our goal to let you know 48 hours (2 days) in advance if we plan to shut off your water for an extended period (several hours). Occasionally we may have to reduce this notice to 24 hours. If a continuous water supply is required for your business and you have not already completed a water needs survey, please contact us to let us know when and how your business uses water.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.

Keeping you informed

We will let you know if there are any major changes to the plans. Receive timely project updates right to your inbox by signing up for e-notices. Information on this project can also be found on the project webpage.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality tap water. If you have any questions, please contact us.
