Peel Region residents reach a COVID-19 milestone

75% of adults in Peel have received their first dose of the vaccine. Find out why a second dose is important.

This is a milestone in the collective fight against the virus, but we’re not done yet.

For the best protection against the virus, all eligible Peel residents need to be fully vaccinated. This means taking the first step by getting your first dose and showing up for your second dose when it’s your turn.

Why a second dose matters

Increased vaccine efficacy
Research and real-world experience have shown that a single dose of the vaccine provides protection from severe complications, hospitalization, and death due to COVID-19. However, for longer term protection, a second dose is necessary. You’re fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving a second dose.

Protecting your community
Peel has seen the highest rates of infection in Ontario. The more residents that are fully vaccinated, the more protected you, your family, and your community will be against COVID-19.

New Delta variant
According to projections from the Ontario Science Table, the Delta variant (B.1.617) will become the dominant strain of COVID-19 in Peel.?In addition to full vaccination, adhering to the current public health practices remains a priority for Peel in reducing transmission of all variants of COVID-19.
