Canada HomeShare Peel

Home sharing program brings older adults and post-secondary students together.

Now accepting applications

Home providers (55 years or older) with an extra bedroom, and post-secondary students seeking affordable housing can apply to Canada HomeShare Peel.

Canada HomeShare has launched a pilot program in Peel. Run by HelpAge Ontario with support from the Region of Peel, Canada HomeShare matches older adults who have a spare room with post-secondary students who need housing.  Students pay $400 to 600 a month for rent and contribute 5 to 7 hours a week of companionship and assistance around the home.

Applications for students and home providers are now being accepted for the Winter 2022 school term. The entire process, from application to finding an appropriate home share match, is carefully overseen by social workers in accordance with all COVID-19 protocols.
