Since 2016, artists have visited downtown Brampton in person to participate in the "en plein air" Live Art Brampton Competition. Painting "en plein air" is a painting created outdoors "in the open air" and started and completed on the same day.

Working in your favourite medium and preferred style, you will interpret any of the natural areas, streetscapes, buildings and/or people in the Region of Peel. The Region is made up of the 3 municipalities of Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

If you are an adult 18+ living in Ontario. Please read the Conditions of Entry for full details. Artists will need to supply all art materials and equipment needed to paint in the outdoors, rain or shine.

There is no fee to register, but you must register in advance. Registration is limited to 50 people on a first come, first serve basis. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27 or when a maximum of 50 artists have registered.

All submissions will be displayed in an online showcase where the public will vote for their favourite artwork starting Sept. 1. Winners of the Peoples’ Choice award will be announced on Saturday, September 25, during the kick-off of Ontario Culture Days. Prizes will be awarded to the three artworks receiving the most votes.

PAMA Youth Council
We are excited to announce that PAMA will be starting a Youth Council in the 2021-2022 school year. The PAMA Youth Council will provide refreshing and inspired guidance that supports and empowers local youth to become great leaders and will encourage community connectivity. The Youth Council will enable youth to share their stories and build community through exhibitions and programming for youth by youth.

Please express your interest by submitting a short application. Applications will be accepted until September 24, 2021.

PAMA is temporarily closed as it is undergoing a significant upgrade project to improve airflow in the complex to enhance visitor experience and ensure the safeguarding of collections. PAMA will also be taking this time to revisit permanent exhibitions, conduct community consultations and refresh spaces. PAMA will remain closed until early 2022, while remaining active with online programing, community partnerships and virtual and outdoor exhibitions.
