Widening and reconstruction of the Gore Road
North of Castlemore Road to North of Squire Ellis Drive. Project 07-4030
Project updates
- We have finished the work. The project is under warranty until December 2022.
What we are doing
- Widening from 2 to 4 lanes, and reconstructing of the Gore Road.
- Widening and improving the Gore Road and Countryside Drive intersection.
- Widening Humber River Bridge.
To complete all the above we will:
- Remove existing culverts and install new ones.
- Remove existing and install new asphalt pavement.
- Install new storm sewer and create new ditches.
- Install new street lights, traffic signals and signs.
- Construct concrete curbs and sidewalks.
- Install new landscaping in vicinity of Humber River Bridge.

- Approximately 400m north of Castlemore Road to 200m north of Squire Ellis Drive.
When
- Start:midJuly 2017
- Finish:Substantially Complete Fall 2020

Working hours
- Our contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- These hours are consistent with the local municipalities’ by-laws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but a shorter working day would mean the project would take longer to complete.
Traffic and parking control
- Temporary lane closures will be required during non-peak hours.
- Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
- Barriers and signs will be placed for safety and direction, as required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Note that speed limit along The Gore Road will be reduced for the project duration.
Driveway access
- We anticipate that driveway access will be maintained in so far as possible.
- If we need to block your driveway for a short time you will be contacted to arrange for the best time and for alternate access. If your driveway is blocked, you may choose to park on a side street for a short time.
- We will make sure businesses have access at all times.
- Address tabs and mail boxes will be temporary relocated and reinstated at the completion of work.
- Please call the Project Manager if you have special needs related to access or business hours.
