Notification of 24-hour tunneling work
Mayfield Road, 325 meters west of Clarkway Drive. Project 16-1177
What are we doing?
- Installing two watermains in a tunnel under the watercourse along Mayfield Road, approximately 325 metres west of Clarkway Drive shown on the attached map.
When?
- 24-hour tunneling will begin Monday, March 22, 2021 and is anticipated to be completed by Friday, April 9, 2021.
- Tunneling will be carried out continuously, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Why continuously for 24 hours, 7 days per week?
- Continuous tunneling operations will allow the Contractor to shorten the overall construction schedule at the watercourse.
- Continuous operations also represent the safest and least disruptive means of tunneling.
What does this mean for you?
- We do not anticipate there to be significant noise or vibration above normal daytime levels during the tunneling operations.
- Efforts have been made to reduce impacts to local residents such as restricting material deliveries and removals by truck to daytime hours.
