Watermain and sanitary sewer replacement and improvement

Queen Street East from Goreway Drive to Cherrycrest Drive. Project 18-1169

Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to install watermains and sanitary forcemains along Queen Street East. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water and wastewater services.

At this stage in the project, lane reductions will be required to complete this work.

Traffic impacts

  • Eastbound Queen Street East will be reduced to two lanes from east of Goreway Street to west of McVean Drive. This lane reductions are expected to occur from Thursday September 28 to Friday November 3rd.
  • The ZUM bus stops in this vicinity will not be affected:
    • Goreway – Queen Station Stop Eastbound
    • McVean – Queen Station Stop Eastbound
  • Westbound Queen Street East will continue to be reduced to two lanes from west of McVean Drive to east of Goreway/Humber Station Road. This lane reductions will continue through to the spring of 2024.
  • The ZUM bus stop in this vicinity will not be affected:
    • McVean – Queen Station Stop Westbound
  • Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be provided at all times, unless notified otherwise.
  • Different portions of the work will have additional traffic impacts, and those will be communicated in advance including the details of the lane restrictions.
  • PVMS boards will continue in place throughout the works and will be updated accordingly.

Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.

The speed reduction from 80 km/h to 60 km/h in this area will remain in effect throughout construction for the safety of the public and construction crews.
