Sanitary sewer replacement and improvement

Notice of temporary road closure Joycelyn Drive. Project 16-2300_A_3B

The Region of Peel has been working in your neighborhood to replace the sanitary sewers and maintenance holes (commonly referred to as manholes). This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater is created when water goes down the drain or is flushed down the toilet. As pipes age and our population grows, we need to replace older sewers to keep providing you with high quality wastewater services.

At this stage in the project, we will be digging deep trenches on Joycelyn Drive to install new sanitary sewers and wastewater service pipes.

Traffic impacts

A temporary road closure will be required to complete this work. Joycelyn Drive will be closed to all through traffic from Joymar Drive to Bonham Boulevard. This temporary road closure is expected to occur from January 9, 2023 until February 28, 2023. During this time, a detour route will be clearly marked with road signs. Residents who live on the street will have access to their homes. No through traffic will be allowed and there will be no on-street parking.

This road closure may cause traffic delays. We ask for your patience and will try to minimize any delays.

Information on this project can also be found on the construction project page.

Contractor and working hours

The work will be completed by D’Orazio Infrastructure Group Limited and supported by R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited, both under contract to the Region of Peel. This contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require your neighbourhood to be under construction for a longer period of time.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality wastewater services. If you have any questions, please contact us.
