Sanitary sewer replacement and improvement
Notice of temporary road closure Roy Drive and Turney Drive. Project 16-2300 A 3B
The Region of Peel has been working in your neighborhood to replace the sanitary sewers and maintenance holes (commonly referred to as manholes). This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater is created when water goes down the drain or is flushed down the toilet. As pipes age and our population grows, we need to replace older sewers to keep providing you with high quality wastewater services.
At this stage in the project, we will be digging deep trenches on Roy Drive and Turney Drive to install new sanitary sewers and wastewater service pipes. Temporary road closures will be required to complete this work.
Traffic impacts
The temporary road closures will take place in two stages:
- Stage 1: Turney Drive will be closed to through traffic from Vista Boulevard to Roy Drive. This temporary road closure is expected to begin February 13, 2023 and last around 4 weeks. Turney Drive will reopen before stage 2 begins.
- Stage 2: Once stage 1 is completed, Roy Drive will be closed to through traffic from Vista Boulevard to Turney Drive. This temporary road closure will last around one week and is expected to end on March 17, 2023.
During each stage, a detour route will be clearly marked with road signs. Please see the attached map for the detour routes. Residents who live on the street will have access to their homes. No through traffic will be allowed and there will be no on-street parking.
This road closure may cause traffic delays. We ask for your patience and will try to minimize any delays.
