2010 Road Construction Projects

Mississauga | Brampton and Caledon | Resurfacing Projects

Road Construction in Mississauga

 

Erin Mills Parkway

Resurfacing from Battleford Drive to Turner Valley Road
The resurfacing of Erin Mills Pkwy from 200 metres south of Battleford Drive to 200 metres south of Turner Valley Road is complete, except for the Millcreek Drive and Erin Mills Parkway intersection area. The intersection improvement works are currently being done by the Region of Peel and the developer (Orlando). The resurfacing of this area will be complete in the summer of 2010 after the intersection improvement works are complete.

Queensway and Dixie Road

Road Improvements
Phase One (completed) – Queensway road improvements between Gordon Drive and Cawthra Road included resurfacing from east of Hurontario Street to west of Cawthra Road.

Phase 2 (ongoing) – Queensway road improvements between Cawthra Road and Dixie Road includes watermain replacement, intersections improvements, as well as resurfacing on Dixie Road from Blundell Road to Golden Orchard Drive. These works commenced in summer of 2010 and will be completed in the summer of 2011.

Phase 3 – Queensway road improvements between Dixie Road and Etobicoke Creek includes intersection improvements at Queensway and Dixie Road and resurfacing between Gordon Drive and east of Hurontario Street is currently scheduled for 2011.

Phase 4 – Dixie Road improvements between Kendall Road and Blundell Road will be constructed together with the Hanlan Feedermain project. The works will begin no earlier than 2012.

Derry Road and Syntex Court

Intersection Improvements
Intersection improvements at Derry Road and Syntex Court include the construction of a southbound right turn lane from Syntex Court onto Derry Road. The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is tentatively scheduled to commence in July or August of this year.

Derry Road and 9th Line

Intersection improvements
Derry Road and 9th line is an intersection improvement project that includes designated turning lanes. The project is in the design phase. Construction is planned for June to August of 2010.

Derry Road and Lisgar Drive

Intersection improvements
Derry Road and Lisgar Drive works include the construction of right turn lanes on both local roads onto Derry Road. The project is in design phase. Construction is planned for June to August of 2010.

Dixie Road at Derry Road

Intersection Improvements
Improvements include additional turning lanes to accommodate increasing traffic volumes. Construction commenced in the summer of 2009 and completion is anticipated in the late summer of 2010.

Derry Road and Torbram Road

Intersection Improvements
The construction is subject to utility relocation and is anticipated to start in June 2010 and end in October 2010.

Britannia Road

Road Widening
This project involves a three to five lane widening between Queen Street and Creditview Road, and a five to seven lane widening from Creditview Road to Hurontario Street.
The construction involves two phases. Phase 1, Queen Street to Bidwell Trail, started in July 2009 and stopped for winter, but will continue until June 2010. It is anticipated that Phase 2, Bidwell Trail to Hurontario Street, will start in May 2010 and be complete by August 2011.

Road Construction in Brampton and Caledon

 

Mayfield Road

Road Widening from Inder Heights Drive to West of Highway 410
Construction is underway for the last segment between Kennedy Road and Stonegate Drive. Work includes watermain and widening from two to four lanes. Construction of this segment will be completed fall of 2010. The road widening for the other sections, from two to four lanes, was completed last November. Boulevard restoration work for all sections will be completed this fall.

Queen Street East

Reconstruction from Airport Road to Hwy 50
This project involves road widening and reconstruction of Queen Street East from Airport Road to Beaumaris Drive, including intersection improvements to implement ZÜM Transit stops at Airport Road, McVean Drive, The Gore Road and Hwy 50. The work also includes watermain, storm sewer, street lighting and traffic signals. Construction commenced in August 2009 and will end by late spring 2011.

Gore Road

Road Widening from Cottrelle Road to Castlemore Road
Road widening from two to four lanes on Gore Road, from Cottrelle Road to Castlemore Road, will be going to construction in June 2010. This project also involves installation of approximately 450 metres of sanitary sewer and watermain. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2011.

Winston Churchill Boulevard

Road Widening from Steeles Avenue to Embleton Road
Road widening including construction of a watermain is expected to start in the April 2010 and end in the summer of 2011.

Mississauga Road

Road Widening from Queen Street West to Bovaird Drive
Road widening of Mississauga Road from two to four lanes also includes the construction of the watermain and a trunk sewer. Construction will be phased over three seasons. Phase 1 will commence the summer of 2010. Completion is anticipated by the end of 2012.

Airport Road

Road Widening from Mayfield Road to 1.3km north
This two to four lane widening project is expected to start in May 2010 and end in the fall of 2010.

Queen Street East and Kennedy Road

Intersection Improvements
This project is being done in conjunction with the City of Brampton road widening of Queen Street East, from Centre Street to Hwy 410. The intersection works at Queen Street East and Kennedy Road will incorporate a new high speed rapid transit system. The watermain works from Kennedy Road to Centre Street are also part of the project and are complete.

Intersection Improvements are anticipated to be completed by the end of the summer 2010.

Bovaird Drive and Torbram Road

Intersection Improvements
This project involves adding turn lanes at the intersection. The works are expected to commence in July and end in October of 2010.

The Gore Road and King Street

Intersection Improvements
The intersection improvements are being incorporated into the final stage of road reconstruction of The Gore Road from King Street to Patterson Side Road. The left turn lanes will be completed by August of 2010.

Dixie Road

Reconstruction, Two Phase Project
Phase 1: King Street to south of Boston Mills was completed in November 2009.

Phase 2: South of Boston Mills to Olde Base Line Road - the reconstruction is anticipated to take place from August to November 2010.

Work includes the reconstruction and vertical realignment of Dixie Road to tie in with Horseshoe Hill Road to establish a four-way intersection, including construction of a roundabout at Olde Base Line Road.

Car Pool Lot at the south-west corner of Mayfield Road and Highway 50.

The lot is being constructed in partnership with Go Transit. Construction includes 204 parking spots. Construction commenced November 2009 and is expected to be complete, with surface asphalt and landscaping by June 2010.

Resurfacing Projects

The following projects are slated to be completed during the summer and fall of 2010:
  • Mayfield Road, from Creditview Road to Winston Churchill Boulevard.
  • Finch Avenue, from Hwy 427 ramp to just south of Steeles Avenue.
  • Hwy 50, from 500 metres north of Hickman Street to Olde Church Road.
  • Forks of the Credit Road – from McLaren Road to approximately 6km to the west.


Resurfacing of Dixie Road from Courtneypark Drive to Derry Road

Construction will start in April 2010 and end in October 2010. This phase includes the rehabilitation of the Scarlett’s Bridge deck.

Microsurfacing (surface treatment) in Caledon

The following roads will be undergoing surface treatment in late Spring of 2010 in order to extend the life of pavement, seal minor defects and improve skid resistance:

  • Dixie Road from 100 metres north of Mayfield Road to King Street
  • Winston Churchill Boulevard from 50 metres north of Isabella Street northerly to the end of paved surface.
  • Olde Baseline Road from Mississauga Road to 300 metres east of Chinguacousy Road.
