Put this item in your recycling (blue) cart or a transparent clear or blue-tinted plastic bag.
Special disposal instructions or restrictions:
- Use or consume the items contents. Make sure the item is clean and empty before placing it in your recycling.
- Do not flatten.
- Put any foil or plastic seals, stoppers, or tear-away tabs in the garbage.
- Remove the lid from the can to get two separate items. Put the lid and the can in your recycling.
- The lid on your recycling cart must be completely closed for collection. A closed lid helps prevent litter.
- Recycling is mandatory in the Region of Peel.
- The Region collects unlimited amounts of recycling waste from the curb.
- If your recycling cart is full, put recyclables in a transparent clear or blue-tinted plastic bag. Place the bag outside of your recycling cart on your collection day.

Election signs are accepted free of charge up to 30 days following an election day. A disposal fee will apply after this time period.

If you prefer to recycle the signs prior to removal by the candidates campaign office, you must:
- Separate the three main types of signs, corrugated plastic, paperboard and plastic film, from their associated hardware (e.g., Nylon zip ties, metal staples, wooden stakes, metal "O" rings and dirt/debris) to qualify for free drop off. Do not bundle or mix signs made of different materials.

Biohazard containers for safe sharps disposal
A biohazard container is for waste that could be contaminated with germs that harm people and the environment.
If you or your caregiver injects medicine through a sharp, always immediately dispose of the sharp in a secure biohazard container. The container must be fully closable, free of cracks and properly labelled.
You can pick up free, new biohazard containers from:
- Peel Community Recycle Centres.
- Pharmacies that participate in the Ontario Sharps Collection Program.
- The Region of Peel Mobile Van Service. This service operates Monday - Saturday from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. Call 647-225-1623 to request free biohazard container.
Sharps used for home health-care
To safely dispose of a home health-care sharp:
- Pick up a free biohazard container from a Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC).
- Wear gloves and use tongs, pliers or tweezers to pick up the sharp. Put the cap in the garbage.
- Put the sharp in the biohazard container with the needle facing downwards.
- Return the filled biohazard container to a CRC for safe, free disposal and pick up a new empty container for free.
Important: CRCs accept discarded sharps in ONLY biohazard containers. Only Peel residents can bring filled biohazard containers to a Peel CRC.
Used sharps on public properties
Never touch a used sharp you find on public property.
- Municipal staff are responsible for safely disposing of used sharps.
- If you find a sharp on public property in Brampton or Mississauga, call 3-1-1.

A biohazard container is for waste that could be contaminated with germs that harm people and the environment.
If you or your caregiver injects medicine through a sharp, always immediately dispose of the sharp in a secure biohazard container. The container must be fully closable, free of cracks and properly labelled.
You can pick up free, new biohazard containers from:
- Peel Community Recycle Centres.
- Pharmacies that participate in the Ontario Sharps Collection Program.
- The Region of Peel Mobile Van Service. This service operates Monday - Saturday from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. Call 647-225-1623 to request free biohazard container.
Sharps used for home health-care
To safely dispose of a home health-care sharp:
- Pick up a free biohazard container from a Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC).
- Wear gloves and use tongs, pliers or tweezers to pick up the sharp. Put the cap in the garbage.
- Put the sharp in the biohazard container with the needle facing downwards.
- Return the filled biohazard container to a CRC for safe, free disposal and pick up a new empty container for free.
Important: CRCs accept discarded sharps in ONLY biohazard containers. Only Peel residents can bring filled biohazard containers to a Peel CRC.

Never touch a used sharp you find on public property.

A biohazard container is for waste that could be contaminated with germs that harm people and the environment.
If you or your caregiver injects medicine through a sharp, always immediately dispose of the sharp in a secure biohazard container. The container must be fully closable, free of cracks and properly labelled.
You can pick up free, new biohazard containers from:
- Peel Community Recycle Centres.
- Pharmacies that participate in the Ontario Sharps Collection Program.
- The Region of Peel Mobile Van Service. This service operates Monday - Saturday from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. Call 647-225-1623 to request free biohazard container.
Sharps used for home health-care
To safely dispose of a home health-care sharp:
- Pick up a free biohazard container from a Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC).
- Wear gloves and use tongs, pliers or tweezers to pick up the sharp. Put the cap in the garbage.
- Put the sharp in the biohazard container with the needle facing downwards.
- Return the filled biohazard container to a CRC for safe, free disposal and pick up a new empty container for free.
Important: CRCs accept discarded sharps in ONLY biohazard containers. Only Peel residents can bring filled biohazard containers to a Peel CRC.
Used sharps on public properties
Never touch a used sharp you find on public property.
