Road paving Cawthra Road between Burnhamthorpe Road East and Bloor Street
Project 18-2252
Peel Region will be repairing the road where it was disturbed by our recent watermain and sanitary sewer construction. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation while we finish this work.
Schedule
We expect paving activities to take place on Cawthra Road between Burnhamthorpe Road East and Bloor Street beginning the week of October 23, 2023, until approximately November 10, 2023, weather permitting.
Regular working hours will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Traffic impacts
Work will be phased to minimize traffic disruption in the area. Temporary road closures and lane reductions will be required to complete this work:
- Cawthra Road: Lane reductions will be required on Cawthra Road between Burnhamthorpe Road East and Bloor Street, starting the week of October 23 until November 10, 2023.
- Hassall Road: Access to/from Cawthra Road may be CLOSED between October 23 and November 10, 2023. During this time, a detour route will be clearly marked with road signs.
- Hyacinthe Boulevard: Access to/from Cawthra Road may be CLOSED between October 23 and November 10, 2023. During this time, a detour route will be clearly marked with road signs.
- Schomberg Avenue: Access will remain open to Cawthra Road. Lane reductions will be required when the road is being paved.
Road paving activities may be delayed due to weather conditions, as paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water, or the temperature is below 3°C.
Parking and driveway access
Please do not park on the street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. when paving is scheduled for your street. Please ensure the road is cleared of vehicles (and any type of materials) at these times.
While your street is being paved, you may not have access to your driveway for a short time. As the paving work approaches your home, it is recommended to park on another street.
To provide an alternate parking location, we have requested for a street parking enforcement exemption from the City of Mississauga for Hassall rd. This exemption should be valid until November 10, 2023, and extended if needed. Please note that all other parking laws remain in place, including proper clearance from hydrants and stop signs.
Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
